A Brief History of Chrysler
Chrysler was founded in 1925 by Walter Chrysler. In 1926 Chrysler rolled out its first vehicles, which were surprisingly affordable considering the complex and precise engineering that went into them.
Chrysler quickly grew to become the second largest automaker in the U.S. by the year 1939. Chrysler maintained its position until after WWII, when it introduced new models that were flashy and less brilliantly engineered to tailor to the American consumer of the time. The models were not nearly as successful as Chrysler’s first lineup had been.
Chrysler rebranded again near the end of the century, and has hit the ground running with its new models. Some of the most popular vehicles were the Sebring, the 300C, and the PT Cruiser. Chrysler is working on its next generation of vehicles with an emphasis on fuel-efficiency in order to keep up with the foreign competition and to continue expanding into the lucrative foreign markets.
